Letters and reports are key forms of documentation in the employment relationship making written communication skills an essential element in the toolkit of any HR / IR practitioner. While many persons know what information they would like to capture in the various types of letters; these documents cover such a broad spectrum of issues that they very often struggle to construct them.
Correspondence must not only be specific, but must be in alignment with current policies, procedures and legislation. This is all in an effort to satisfy the objectives of the letter or report, while protecting the organization from liability.
