From learning to carry out basic administrative tasks to gaining higher level support skills, this qualification includes a range of units to meet the needs of learners and employers. The Business Administration National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) was developed to meet the needs of three separate markets in view of the development of organisational, technical, managerial and communicational skills.

This course provides an opportunity to develop an understanding of skills in more complex administrative support, perhaps supporting meetings and events or retrieving information. This certificate is aimed at persons who can demonstrate how they work and communicate in any business environment and using a wide range of everyday administrative tasks such as, using diary systems, document production and supporting meetings.

Who is this Qualification For?

This qualification may be taken by any entry level employee, students about to leave school/college/university and entering the world of work or persons who need an introduction to administration and business operations. The term “workplace” refers to any location work is being carried out.

1. Generic business administrators across all sectors:

  • Secretaries
  • Clerks
  • Administrators
  • Business support operators and 
  • Students (School Leavers) who wish to be certified  

 2. Specialist business administrators in sectors such as:

  •  Health
  •  Law
  •  Education

3. Persons who need some business and administration skills in order to carry out their own jobs competently:

  •  Professionals
  •  Managers
  •  Support workers
  •  Principals in small businesses

This list is not exhaustive and only serves to illustrate the breadth of the qualification.

The training sessions will be delivered using:

  • PowerPoint presentations
  • Case Studies
  • Discussion Questions
  • Simulations
  • Role Play
  • Written Exercises
  • Observation of Performance Tasks

This course is delivered within a Two (2) month period broken down into thirty (30) hours of training and support sessions followed by practical assessments of performance tasks.
