The active inclusion of employers—especially Caribbean employers—in the lead-up to the ILO Regional Meeting is essential to ensuring that policies and strategies reflect the realities of our businesses, economies, and workforces.
From March 31 to April 1, 2025, the Barbados Employers’ Confederation (BEC) successfully negotiated the thematic areas to be discussed by Workers, Governments, and Employers at the upcoming October meeting in Punta Cana. As a result, we have secured critical issues on the agenda that directly impact our region’s economic and social resilience:
✅ The Blue Economy – Harnessing ocean-based industries for sustainable growth.
✅ Skills and Vocational Training – Equipping workers for the future of work.
✅ Job Creation – Strengthening employment opportunities for all.
✅ Sustainable Development – Balancing economic progress with environmental responsibility.
Caribbean employers must remain engaged in this process to shape policies that support business growth, workforce development, and economic sustainability. Our participation ensures that regional priorities are not just discussed but acted upon in ways that drive long-term success for our economies and people.
